Focaldata
Last night, we conducted an exclusive snap poll for Politico on the US vice-presidential debate between the Democratic nominee Tim Walz and Republican nominee JD Vance.
We surveyed 902 US adults, of whom 553 said they watched the debate.
Among debate watchers, likely voters were evenly split 50-50 on the winner of the debate, with Walz narrowly ahead among all adults.
Both candidates are narrowly seen by likely voters as ready to be president if the candidate at the top of the ticket were unable to carry out their duties, but JD Vance had a clear lead on this question among debate watchers, with 51% saying Donald Trump's running mate is ready to be president, versus 38% who said he is not ready.
